To celebrate, Niantic has scheduled a Mega Metagross Raid Day on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. During this event, Metagross encountered in Mega Raids will come with a special bonus: knowing the Fast Attack Shadow Claw.

Is Mega Metagross Good in Pokémon GO?

Metagross is already a strong (almost perfect) Pokémon even before Mega Evolution. Once evolved, its boosted stats and enhanced moves make it a top-tier choice for raids, PvP battles, and general gym domination. Although obtaining enough Mega Energy to evolve it won't be easy and requires some serious grinding, Mega Metagross is worth it.

You'll need 300 Mega Energy the first time, and then only 60 Mega Energy for each subsequent evolution.
